We Are Your
Accountability Partner
A financial plan should not be a shiny, printed, 30-page document that you review once and put in a drawer. It is a living document that needs to be reviewed, and adjusted, so that you stay on track at every stage of life. As we make progress together toward your goals, we’ll help you stay on track to successfully meet the changes, challenges, and victories of life.
Advocate
We don’t just create a roadmap – we help you … find yours™. We identify and communicate what should take priority and guide you each step of the way.

Meet Your Team
Scott M. Danek CFP®, AIF®
Founder, Wealth Advisor, GFN (Genuine Fishing Nut)
Scott is an award-winning Founder, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner, and GFN (Genuine Fishing Nut) based on Okemos, Michigan with 33 years of experience serving clients.
For Scott, it is incredibly rewarding to work alongside a talented, dedicated team in serving clients. People’s own personal equanimity is incredibly important, which is signified by the firm’s name.
He began his career in the early 90’s assisting individual clients and began retirement plan consulting in 1995. In 1996 he earned the CFP® certification to signify his commitment to holistic financial planning. He then earned the AIF, Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation. Both are consistent with the firm’s approach in providing fiduciary advice to both individuals and plan sponsors.
Community is also very important to Scott and his wife Jill. He served for 12+ years on his hometown’s school board, as treasurer, and was first President and then race director for the Laingsburg Educational Advancement Foundation. Equanimity was awarded one of three inaugural Impact awards for its support of its community, including organizations such as Ele’s Place, the Boys and Girls Club, and multiple area food banks. The past few years they have expanded the ‘reach’ of their support to include mangrove restoration in the Bahamas as well as becoming Patrons of The Studios of Key West.
Scott is an avid fisherman, especially saltwater flats fishing, and fly tier, Jill is an accomplished potter, and they enjoy travel and especially spending time with their three adult children and two grandsons.

Kate Moss, CFP®
Wealth Advisor, Shareholder
Kate Moss is a Wealth Advisor, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and Shareholder. She started her career in financial services at Equanimity Wealth Management (EWM) in 2002, doing all things in the office but being an advisor. Over time, as she learned and grew, it became increasingly difficult for her to not advise clients. With encouragement from Scott and many clients, in 2015, she made the decision to become an advisor.
For Kate, encouraging and caring for clients is the best part of her job. It’s a complicated world and if Kate can make it less complicated, by using easier language, giving relatable examples, or putting concepts into context, she counts that as a successful day. Kate also loves having clients as a part of her daily life, they are her family.
Kate has a BA in Sociology from Michigan State University. GO GREEN! It was supposed to be an Accounting degree, but it wasn’t an appropriate financial plan for her to go to school for an extra 2 years after MSU made quite a few changes in the middle of her collegiate journey. Her mind still thinks accounting and balance, degree or not.
Post college Kate worked for a couple small businesses and learned a lot of valuable skills, though she really wanted to wear her accounting/financial hat as a career. It was a huge blessing when a friend referred her to Scott. Kate has never looked back and continues to only look forward. Always striving to improve, develop, and change to be the best version of herself.
Kate is passionate about serving people: family, friends, her church, her neighbors, and her clients. Others come first. Thanks to Kate’s parents for instilling that value deep in her heart, soul, and thoughts. She volunteers by playing tenor sax in the Meridian Community Band, serves as a Decon and Team Lead at Riverview Church, and is the president of the board for Hospice of Lansing/Stoneleigh Residence. And when she has spare time, she and her husband Brent love to travel, eat good food, garden, and explore and experience this amazing world.
